This site exists because one specific legal problem — an old conviction destroying a present-day immigration case — sits exactly where our two practices meet.
Why a firm needs both practices for this work
A motion under Penal Code § 1473.7 is criminal litigation whose entire value is measured in immigration law. The motion is filed in superior court, argued against a district attorney, and decided by a criminal judge. But the reason it exists, the way prejudice is proven, and the wording of the order the judge signs are all about what federal immigration authorities will do next. Firms that practice only one side hand the case off in the middle — and the handoff is where these cases die. We don’t hand off. The attorneys who vacate the conviction are the attorneys who file the motion to reopen, the adjustment application, or the naturalization petition that follows.

Lluis has practiced for over fifteen years alongside him. Father and son, with a staff that works in English and Spanish every day, from one office on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles — blocks from the criminal courts where these motions are heard.
